Sangiovese 2022

The 2022 Texas Sangiovese opens with robust and earthy leather aromas, interwoven with fresh and bright notes of raspberry. Sweet, rich undertones of blueberry and tart, refreshing hints of cranberry add depth, while warm, spicy clove enhances the overall aromatic experience. The palate reveals a dominant cherry flavor, delivering a balance of sweetness and tartness, complemented by the creamy, slightly tangy sweetness of vanilla yogurt and the fresh, juicy fruitiness of strawberry.

Winemaker's Notes

The Sangiovese grapes are sourced from two prominent vineyards in Texas, 48.5% from Buena Suerte Vineyard in Texas High Plains AVA and 36.8% from Hye Top Vineyard in Texas Hill Country AVA. The addition of Dolcetto and Aglianico enriches the wine's structure, with Dolcetto contributing dark fruit and soft tannins, and Aglianico adding body and a touch of spice. This wine can be enjoyed young for its vibrant fruit flavors, but it also has the potential to age gracefully over the next 3-5 years, allowing the more complex notes of leather and clove to further develop.
